Ty Istra is a renovated Istrian stone farmhouse in the tiny village of Dračevac. It is owned by the co-author of the Bradt Travel Guide to Istra, Thammy Evans Ullom and her husband Vic. It offers spacious self-catering accommodation in a quiet setting, 10 minutes drive from the sea.
The house affords three separate living spaces: 1. The Main house, 2. the Štala (a sizable studio apartment, converted from the barn), and 3. Ty Istra Bach (small studio apartment, also known as the ‘granny flat’). Each has its own entrance, kitchen, bed/bedding, bathroom(s) and furnishings.
Ty Istra’s three living spaces cover just under 260m2 over three floors. There is a small yard/garden at the front and a patio seating area and pool in the back. Covered parking, a sandpit for children, and solar-heated water round out its main features.
Altogether, the house sleeps 10 guests in beds, and another four in pull out sofa beds, making it ideal for mid and large sized family gatherings.
Aside from the obvious attractions during an Istrian summer, the house, with its two open fireplaces, is also very welcoming over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Other rental properties are available in the village if you’re looking to accommodate for a larger reunion.
